Bilwon Farm

Located 15 kilometres north of Mareeba, Bilwon Farm is working farm incorporating training facilities, sheds and a diverse range of farm equipment. Located on the bank of the Barron River, the farm is fully irrigated, meaning trainees can develop their skills all year round on a number of different types of crops including pumpkin, lucerne, hay, watermelons and sorghum. In the near future, trainees at Bilwon Farm will be able to learn a wide range of generalist skills. The training team at Bilwon Farm plan to achieve great outcomes for their students by providing hands-on activities in combination with personalised assistance and support. Training will be tailored to each participants’ needs. This means they will be  able to ‘hit the ground running’ when they start employment on any farm.Proposed Courses to be offered at Bilwon Farm include:

  • Certificate I in Rural Production (Harvest)
  • Certificate I in Rural Production (Maintenance)
  • Certificate I in Horticulture
  • Certificate I in Conservation and Land Management
  • Skills Set Horticulture
  • A non-accredited, two week pre-employment course will be offered at Bilwon Farm.
